resided in Maine anC 82 of Chelsea passed away on Dec 13 2004 surrounded by her loving family at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta She died peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer She was born in Augusta on Nov 13 1922 where she attended local schools She married her childhood sweetheart Lester Mason Sr on July 22 1939 and remained deeply devoted to him until his death in February 2002 Over tire years she helped her husband while he built his business Mason's Lawnmower Power Equipment and also was a devoted wife and mother She was actively involved for the last five years rasid permanently inFlorida wherqj she was an active member of feej Paisley Methodist Church She eqjoyed fee warmer weather bdS decided to return to Maine this year spend more time family and friends will be sadly missed bvj her family and man friends She is survived by her sons Lester Mason Jr and wife Sandra and Larry A MaSon and wife Vicky all of Augusta two I daughters Rose Dearborn 2 and husband Archie and Bar- ban A Bolduc and husband Joe all of Chelsea Surviving grand- RANDOLPH Norris A Perry of 26 Purview Ave died unexpectedly Sunday Dec 12 2004 in Randolph He was born in Randolph on Jan 6 1940 fee 10th child of die late Ernest and Ethel Perry He attended school in Randolph and Gardiner He had worked for Lucas Tree Expert for some years He was self-employed helping demolish old buildings and lending a helping hand when and where needed He was predeceased by his parents two brothers Francis and Ernest three sisters Carolyn Walker Dorothy Mc Charles 1938 MONMOUTH Charles Tibbetts Jr 66 of Country Acres died at his home Monday Dec 13 2004 wife his family at his side He was bon in Gardiner on Jan 7 1938 a son of Charles Sr and Mariam MacCormack Tibbetts Charles was an Air Force veteran He had been employed for Archie Tfcxi Service Inmont Inc of Winthrop and for 24 years Veterans Affairs Medical and Regional Office Center at Togus He loved to fish hunt play poker and go to lawn sales He attended and enjoyed all his sports He is survived by his wife of 30 years Deborah Austin Tibbetts of Monmouth five children Bruce Tibbetts and tening to music dancing rug hooking art sailing smiling hugging loving life and people She was predeceased by her husband and a brother Ralph Alexander McCourtney Jk Joan is survived by her brothers Carl Hamilton McCourtney of Gardiner and Paul Johnson McCourtney of Rockwood and a sister Judith Abigail (McCourtney) Dennett of Augusta Surviving cousins are Elizabeth Ayer of Portland and Doris Hunter of Augusta Joan leaves behind a loving and devoted family sons Robot Nichols and his wife Joan of West Gardiner Ralph Nichols and his wife Amy of Augusta Ricky Nichols of Gardiner and Shawn A Nichols and partner Katherine of Madison Ala daughters Pamela A French and her husband John of Hudson Fla Prudence Nichols-Shaw and husband Brad of Norridge-wock Penelope Nichols-Mc-Courtney of Bremen and stepdaughter Diane Holmes and her husband Bruce of Jacksonville Fla large family also included 13 grandchildren ami 11 great-grandchildren Joan was a member of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church and later Green Street Methodist Church She also was a longtime member of the Rose of Sharon Chapter Order of Eastern Star wishes were not to have any funeral services or visiting hours Three will be a private burial at a later date at die Maine Veterans Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband The family would like to thank the caring personnel at Glenridge for taking care of Joan for the many years Robert Carroll Nichols just before midnight Dec 12 2004 Mrs Nichols quietly succumbed to die effects of a courageous 12-year battle with disease at Glenridge Division of MaineGeneral Rehabilitation Bom Jan 10 1923 in Augusta she was the first daughter of Ralph Alexander McCourtney and Josephine Vivian (Peters) McCourtney Joan will always be remembered as a loving friendly and compassionate person by all she came in contact with Her trademark was her sparkling eyes and a smile on her face which truly reflected how she so enjoyed life Joan married Robert Carroll Nichols and raised six children They lived in Augusta for many years before moving to Windsor in 1970 where she and her husband were one of the first certified emergency medical technicians for the Windsor Volunteer Ambulance Service Joan was a 1943 graduate of Cony High School and was involved in many school activities and clubs Joan was a competitor in ice skating One of her favorite hobbies as a teenager was art and she served all four years at Cony on the Chizzle Wizzle art committee' As a young adult during World War II she was a member of the Girl Reserves and on many occasions served teas at the Blaine House After Cony Joan went cm to school to become a beautician which she enjoyed for many years When her children were older she worked part-time at Drug Store in Augusta and later on became an employee of General Store in Windsor until her retirement in 1983 Joan was extremely proud of her Scottish heritage She be- longed to the Clan Hamilton Society in which her brother Carl is die chair for Maine Their grandmother Abigail family was from the Isle of Arran Scotland and married Peter Johnson McCourtney who was bom in die Shetland Islands Scotland Joan loved volunteering playing her organ singing lis Joyce (Jordan) Boynton 1926-2004 children are Ken Mason Sonya 2 EverettWendy Boisvert Yvonne White Eagle Richard i Mason Larry Mason Jr Karen 2 Skidgel Tammy Mason Guy 2 West Angela quilts hats and mittens and embroidered wall tapestries for everyone in die family- She was active in several bowling leagues was a Cub Scout leader taught sewing and knitting classes and was an avid reader She was always quick with a song and a smile and loved to make doughnuts from scratch for anyone that would come early enough to enjoy them She also loved to spend time at her lakeside camp in Rumford on Feb 8 1926 fee daughter of Arthur Jordan and Hazel (Love-joy) Jordan Joyce attended Rumford schools and graduated from Cony High School in 1944 She met the love of ha life Vernon Boynton when they both worked at in Au- gusta They were married on their birthdays Feb 8 in 1947 Joyce was married to Vernon for 31 years until death on April 16 1998 After raising a family of five children she went to work for the Maine Department of Human Services She retired from the state after 20 years of service After her retirement she and her husband spent summers at First Roach in Greenville Joyce was a devoted mother sister and grandmother She never missed the opportunity to get involved in her and lives She especially loved taking her granddaughters to dance class After the death of her
